EDUCATION
Tej Brar’s educational background is marked by a BA in Media Production, with a focus on Sound Design/Audio Post-Production, from Emerson College, which he completed between 2006 and 2010. During his time at Emerson College, Tej was actively involved in various student societies and activities.
Before attending Emerson College, Tej received his International Baccalaureate Diploma from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in 2006, and he completed his ICSE from The Shri Ram School in 2004.
CAREER
Tej currently serves as the Head of Festivals at NODWIN Gaming, a position he assumed in April 2023. In this role, he is responsible for managing various high-profile projects within Nodwin Gaming’s live portfolio. Notable projects under his purview include Bacardi Nh7 Weekender, Breezer Vivid Shuffle, and Dreamhack India. Tej’s work at NODWIN Gaming is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, and encompasses both full-time and hybrid responsibilities.
Before joining NODWIN Gaming, Tej was the Founder & Managing Director of Third Culture Entertainment Pvt Ltd from October 2017 to May 2023. During this tenure, he spearheaded a high-end artist management and events business, primarily based in Mumbai. His role involved handling the management and execution of diverse artistic ventures and events.
Tej’s career trajectory includes a significant role as Head of Artist Management at Only Much Louder, a position he held from January 2013 to April 2017. In this capacity, he was in charge of OML’s artist management division, representing some of India’s most talented independent artists across various genres. His team was responsible for booking over 800 club shows annually for the 18 exclusive artists they managed, overseeing bookings, profile building, and tour management.
He also worked as a Programming Executive at Blue Frog Media in the New Delhi area for eight months in 2012. His responsibilities included booking artists, providing logistical support for their requirements, and managing events, which ranged from domestic talent to international artists and corporate clients such as Audi, Google, and Adidas.
In 2011, Tej held the position of Head of Programming & Live Sound Engineer at TLR Cafe, New Delhi. In this role, he was responsible for artist bookings, live sound engineering, and equipment maintenance. He also supervised renovations related to soundproofing and the installation of a new PA system.
His international experience includes working as a Music Screener/A&R Rep at Hello Music in Los Angeles, CA, in 2010. At Hello Music, he analyzed and connected artists in various genres with opportunities provided by partners, including licensing, distribution, and showcases.
During his time in the United States, Tej was a Live Mix Engineer at WERS 88.9 FM in Boston, MA, from 2008 to 2010. WERS 88.9 FM was ranked as the #1 college radio station in the US. Tej recorded, mixed, and mastered content for airplay, working with a wide range of artists in various musical genres.
Tej’s professional journey also involved internships at prestigious companies. He was a Universal Mastering Hollywood Studio Intern at Universal Music Group in Los Angeles in 2009, where he assisted in moving the department to a new studio facility and handled various tasks, including equipment inventory and organization.
He also worked as a Warner/Chappell Catalog Development Intern at Warner Music Group in Los Angeles in the same year. Here, he collaborated with departments on projects related to signing new writers and licensing catalogued songs.
