Ankit Agrawal is the Founder and CEO of InsuranceDekho, a company based in Gurgaon, Haryana, India. He is also involved in hiring tech and product leaders for his organization. EDUCATION
Ankit’s educational background includes an MFC (Master of Finance and Control) degree from the Department of Financial Studies at the University of Delhi, which he earned from 2007 to 2009. During his time there, he was the Class Valedictorian and served as the President of AFCON (Association of Finance and Control – Student Body). As President, he was responsible for the effective functioning of student activities, corporate interactions, and social initiatives. He also initiated fundraising activities to increase the student development fund and introduced a series of corporate leadership lecture series.
He obtained a Bachelors in Commerce degree from the University of Kolkata from 2004 to 2007. During his time at the university, he served as the Secretary of the Cultural Team.
Ankit’s academic journey began at Birla High School, where he was a student from 1996 to 2002. During his time there, he held the positions of President of the Quiz Club and Secretary of the Cultural Team.
CAREER
Ankit’s journey at InsuranceDekho began in July 2019, and he continues to hold the position of Founder and CEO. He has been dedicated to this role for approximately 4 years and 5 months, contributing to the growth and development of the company.
Before founding InsuranceDekho, Ankit had a significant role at CarDekho, where he served as the COO of the Insurance division. This role spanned from July 2018 to June 2019, lasting for 1 year. Prior to this, he was the Business Head of the Insurance division at CarDekho from September 2016 to June 2018, accumulating 1 year and 10 months of experience.
Ankit’s career journey also took him to a role as the Head of Strategy and New Initiatives in the Auto Finance sector from October 2015 to August 2016, lasting 11 months.
During his time at MoveInSync, Ankit was the Head of Corporate Finance and New Initiatives for two years and three months, from August 2013 to October 2015. In this role, he took on responsibilities that included leading finance, strategy, investor relations, and marketing verticals. Ankit played a crucial part in building the corporate finance and marketing functions from the ground up, expanding the company across 8 Indian cities. He also played a key role in negotiating and structuring three rounds of equity and debt capital raises from angel and institutional investors, which included well-known names such as Qualcomm Ventures, Inventus Capital, Saama Capital, and Innoven Capital. Additionally, Ankit was instrumental in leading the hiring process across non-tech functions, significantly growing the team with zero attrition over a 12-month period.
Before his time at MoveInSync, Ankit worked as AVP in Investment Banking at Anand Rathi Advisors for a year, from August 2012 to July 2013. In this role, he led the internet and digital media practice and advised leading startups in raising capital from institutional investors. He also managed cross-border M&A transactions for leading business houses and filed the IPO prospectus of India’s leading IT infrastructure provider for a USD 80 million public offering.
During his tenure at UBS, from September 2009 to July 2012, Ankit was an Associate and part of the tech and digital media practice. He covered over 20 companies in the US internet and interactive entertainment sector, including notable companies like Google, Amazon, eBay, LinkedIn, and AOL.
In a previous role as a Summer Associate at Unitech Reality Investors India Pvt. Ltd. (Unitech CIG) from May 2008 to July 2008, Ankit worked with the investment team, evaluating proposals worth over USD 50 million, conducting detailed primary and secondary catchment area analysis, and engaging in financial modeling.
Ankit’s career began at Kotak Wealth Management, where he worked as an Associate from July 2005 to December 2005. He was responsible for new client acquisition, cultivating them for higher revenue generation for the firm, and designing suitable investment plans based on client needs and risk profiles. During his time there, he achieved the highest AUM for two consecutive quarters among all Associates in Eastern India.
At Lohia Securities Ltd, where he was a Management Trainee from December 2003 to April 2005, Ankit was part of the core team that initiated the Institutional Desk. His responsibilities included new client acquisition and increasing revenue generation from existing clients.
Ankit Agrawal is also a Chartered Accountant and is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He holds the “CA” designation, indicating his expertise in accounting and finance.
