Kulkarni, an experienced professional, has a background with the State Bank of India (SBI). His tenure at the public sector institution encompassed diverse roles, including involvement in the investment banking and advisory division, SBI Capital Markets.
In 2018, he became a part of IRARC, promoted by Piramal Enterprises and Bain Capital. A second source familiar with the matter stated, “With experience in distressed asset resolution at both SBI and IRARC, he is a seasoned banker and was considered the best fit for the job.” Kulkarni could not be reached immediately for comments.
Following the selection of SBI veteran Natarajan Sundar as CEO of the NARCL in April, Kulkarni’s appointment followed suit. Sundar assumed the role of CEO at the end of May.
