Bal Dhuri, an esteemed Indian Marathi theatre actor, is widely recognized for his portrayal of “Raja Dashrath” in Ramanand Sagar’s legendary television series, “Ramayan” (1987).

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Born in 1944 in Maharashtra, his birth name was “Bhaiyyu Ji.” Belonging to a Marathi family, not much information is available regarding Bal Dhuri’s parents and siblings. He was married to Jayshree Gadkar, also a Marathi actor, who played his on-screen wife in “Ramayan.” Unfortunately, Jayshree Gadkar passed away on August 29, 2008, at the age of 66. Bal Dhuri reportedly has one child.

CAREER

From a young age, Bal Dhuri possessed a deep passion for acting, despite his parents’ reluctance for him to pursue it as a career. Undeterred, he defied their wishes and embarked on a path in acting. After completing his engineering degree, he secured a decent job in Maharashtra. However, his heart yearned for acting, leading him to leave his job and immerse himself in Marathi theatre.

Bal Dhuri commenced his acting career in Marathi films, marking his debut with “Devachiye Dwaari.” He later ventured into Hindi cinema with the film “Jai Bajrang Bali” (1976) and made his Gujarati debut with “Satyavadi Raja Harishchandra” (1989). Throughout his career, Bal Dhuri has acted in over 20 films, encompassing Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati languages.

However, it was his small screen debut in Ramanand Sagar’s epic television series “Ramayan” (1987) that catapulted him to immense popularity.
