Chanambam Rishikanta Singh

Chanambam Rishikanta Singh, an Indian weightlifter, has an impressive record of winning medals in numerous competitions.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Born on July 5th, 1998, in Ngairangbam Makha Maning Leikai, Imphal West district, Manipur, he is currently 24 years old as of 2022, and his zodiac sign is Cancer. His parents are Chanambam Irabot and Chanambam Jini Devi.

EDUCATION

Rishikanta Singh has received training from several renowned sports academies, including the National Sports Academy in Khuman Lampak, Imphal, the Army Institute in Pune, and the National Sports Academy (NSA) in Vassil Levski, Bulgaria. He is also a member of the Indian Army and trained at the Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports in Patiala. Rishikanta Singh pursued his studies at Delhi University.

CAREER

In the 15-17 age group, he ranked fourth in the 56 kg category at the 9th National Youth (Boys) Weightlifting Championships held in Guwahati, Assam from December 22nd to 24th, 2013. He participated in several weightlifting competitions, including the 2016 Commonwealth Junior Men Championships in Penang, Malaysia from October 24th to 29th, 2016, and the 30th Men Asian Junior Championships held in Tokyo, Japan from November 8th to 16th, 2016, where he ranked 11th.

In addition, he competed in the 53rd Men Junior National Weightlifting Championships held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha from November 30th to December 4th, 2016, and the 69th Men Senior National Weightlifting Championships held in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu from December 26th to 30th, 2016. He secured the fourth position in the 70th Men Senior National Weightlifting Championships held in Moodbidri, Mangalore, Karnataka in the 56 kg category from January 21st to 25th, 2018.

He also participated in the 54th Men Junior National Weightlifting Championships held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh from February 21st to 25th, 2018, and the 71st Men Senior National Weightlifting Championships held in the same city from February 22nd to 28th, 2019. He competed in the 2019 Senior Commonwealth Championships held in Apia, Samoa from July 6th to 13th, 2019, and the 73rd Men Senior National Weightlifting Championships held in Patiala, Punjab from August 10th to 12th, 2021.

Furthermore, he participated in the Singapore Weightlifting International-2022 from February 23rd to 28th, 2022. He secured the fifth position in the 61 kg category at the Asian Weightlifting Championships 2022 held in Tokyo, Japan from October 8th to 16th, 2022.
