Dr. Nayak’s educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneshwar, in 1991. He pursued his Master’s degree, earning an M.Sc. in Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, in 1993. His quest for knowledge led him to complete his Ph.D. in Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry from BHU in 1997.

Over the years, Dr. Nayak has held several key positions within the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Currently, as Principal Scientist & Head at ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, he continues to make significant contributions to research and extension in the field of agriculture. His tenure in this role began on May 21, 2010, and he remains actively involved in leading and supervising various research and extension activities aimed at enhancing rice production and agricultural sustainability.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Nayak served as Principal Scientist (Research & Extension) at ICAR PDFSR, Modipuram, Meerut, from August 25, 2009, to May 20, 2010. His dedication to agricultural research is further evident in his previous positions, including Senior Scientist at ICAR CSSRI, RRS, Lucknow, where he contributed for over four years from July 5, 2005, to August 24, 2009. Dr. Nayak’s professional journey also includes roles as Scientist Sr. Scale at various ICAR CSSRI research centers, including RRS Bharuch (April 27, 2003, to March 14, 2004), RRS Anand (July 5, 2000, to April 26, 2003), and RRS Anand (July 5, 1996, to July 4, 2000). His cumulative experience in these roles has greatly enriched the field of agricultural research and extension.

He has authored a total of 184 research publications, including 11 books, 41 book chapters, 52 popular articles, and other reports, as well as 42 technical bulletins and folders.
