PERSONAL INFORMATION
Originally from Chandigarh, Dr. Akshita Gupta’s father, Pawan Gupta, holds the position of Principal at a Senior Secondary School in Panchkula. Her mother, Meena Gupta, is a Mathematics lecturer at a Government Senior Secondary School. Notably, while preparing for the UPSC exam, Dr. Akshita Gupta was working as a doctor in a hospital.
EDUCATION
In 2020, Dr. Akshita Gupta cracked the UPSC exam on her first attempt and secured an impressive All India Rank of 69.
CAREER
Her journey began during her third year of medical studies, where she dedicated her leisure time to preparing for the UPSC exam. Opting for Medical Science as her optional subject in the Mains examination seemed natural for her, given her background in medicine. To prepare, Dr. Akshita Gupta diligently revised all her medical books.
Despite working 14 hours in the hospital, Dr. Akshita Gupta used the 15-minute breaks she had to study for the UPSC exam. She devised an effective strategy, focusing on areas where she felt less confident. In an interview, she shared her unique approach of tearing out pages from her medical books that were relevant to the UPSC syllabus. Although it was painful to tear apart her books, she used the extracted pages to create organized chapters, eliminating the need for extensive note-taking. This method allowed her to prepare efficiently for the medical science optional.
