His current role as the Vice Chancellor of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya since January 2023 places him at the helm of this new central university sponsored by the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. This institution is uniquely dedicated to the transportation sector, covering railways, highways, shipping, aviation, ports, logistics, and more. Dr. Choudhary’s leadership involves the pivotal tasks of cultivating a highly skilled human resources pool and spearheading research initiatives in technology and management. EDUCATION

Dr. Choudhary’s academic journey started with a Ph.D. at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, which he completed from 1993 to 2000. His educational background also includes a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Jai Narain Vyas University (1985 – 1990).

CAREER

In addition to his role as Vice Chancellor, Dr. Choudhary also serves as an Independent Director on the Board of Directors for Jodhpur Discom (Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited). This appointment, starting in December 2022, reflects his expertise and the trust placed in him by the Rajasthan Government. His contributions here are likely to impact the power distribution sector in the Jodhpur region of Rajasthan.

Furthermore, Dr. Choudhary holds the position of Management Council Member and serves as the Finance Committee Chairman at Semiconductor Complex Ltd (SCL) since June 2022. Located in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Punjab, India, this role underscores his financial acumen and strategic oversight. SCL plays a significant role in semiconductor manufacturing and technology, and Dr. Choudhary’s involvement in its management highlights his commitment to fostering technological advancements in India.

Dr. Manoj Choudhary’s career has seen him excel in various domains. Before his current roles, he was associated with the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur as a Professor and served as the Dean for International Relations, Alumni Relations, and Corporate Relations. His academic contributions have spanned two years, commencing in October 2021. Additionally, his experience as a Senior Director at Samsung Semiconductor India R&D center marked a significant period in his career, lasting from March 2019 to September 2021. Here, he oversaw the “System LSI” Business Unit R&D and played a pivotal role in the development of System on Chip (SoC) solutions for mobile and automotive markets.

Dr. Choudhary’s journey at Samsung Electronics included multiple leadership positions, such as Director of Samsung Semiconductor India R & D Center (August 2016 – February 2019) and Director/General Manager at SAIT-India Lab (July 2010 – June 2014). His contributions in these roles focused on areas like low-power communication, next-gen WiFi, reconfigurable processors, and more, contributing to the advancement of cutting-edge technologies.

Prior to his tenure at Samsung, he was an Engineering Manager at Texas Instruments from February 2006 to July 2010, where he managed multiple functional domains and teams for mobile software development within the Wireless Terminal Business Unit.

His career began at Samsung India Software Operations, where he initiated and led the Next Generation Research Group. His work was marked by significant contributions to areas such as Ultra Wide Band, Wireless USB, 3G-WLAN interworking, and 4G prototypes.

With his extensive and diverse experience in academia, research, and leadership roles in the tech industry, Dr. Manoj Choudhary is a notable figure driving innovation and development in various sectors in India.
