Janani Kumar kickstarted her career during her college years, participating in numerous modeling and ramp walk competitions. In 2015, she ventured into acting by auditioning for the Tamil comedy romance film Nannbenda, marking her debut as a supporting actress. Following this, Janani seized the opportunity to enter the television industry, starring as the lead actress Janani Kamal in Star Vijay’s drama soap opera Mappillai in 2016.
Janani then featured in many serials like Sembaruthi (2017), Mouna Ragam (2017), Naam Iruvar Namakku Iruvar (2018), and Ayutha Ezhuthu (2019-21). In 2023, Janani gave her cameo appearance in Aha Tamil’s sitcom soap opera Vera Maari Office as Nisha alongside RJ Sarithiran and Vishnu. In the same year, Janani grabbed headlines for playing the lead role of headlines for playing the lead role of Bharathi in Zee Tamil’s soap opera Idhayam alongside Richard Jose.
