PERSONAL INFORMATION

Lal Amitabh Kumar hails from Samastipur, Bihar, India. He resides in Kuboligram village within the Pusa block and previously served as a Hindi professor at Sarvoday High School Vaini. He holds Indian nationality. Unfortunately, his zodiac sign and hobby remain undisclosed.

CAREER

During the final year of his MTech, Amitabh’s father recounts how he sought project opportunities at three ISRO centers. Eventually, he received an offer from the Jodhpur center, marking the start of his journey with ISRO in 2002. He notably held the position of Project Manager during the Chandrayaan-1 mission. Given his extensive experience, he has been entrusted with significant responsibilities in this current mission as well. The residents of Samastipur take pride in Amitabh’s accomplishments, especially considering his childhood curiosity of disassembling and reassembling radio parts.

Under the guidance of Amitabh and his team, who hold the position of Deputy Director at ISRO, Chandrayaan-3 is slated to make a lunar landing. Amitabh has previously served as the Deputy Project Director and Operations Director for Chandrayaan-2 as well. He plays a significant role in the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3, being a member of the core team. For this mission, he serves as the Operations Director.

EDUCATION

Lal Amitabh Kumar received his education within the village, completing his 10th grade at Sarvodaya High School Vaini. He pursued an MSc in Electronics from AN College, Patna in 1989, followed by an MTech from BIT Mesra.
