Melanie Robbins was born in 1968 in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. Raised in North Muskegon, Michigan, she attended Dartmouth College. While details about her parents are unavailable, she has been married to entrepreneur Christopher Robbins since 1996, with whom she shares three children: Kendall Iris, Oakley Robbins, and Sawyer Laurel.

Robbins initially served as a criminal defense attorney and later ventured into hosting roles, including Cox Media Group’s The Mel Robbins Show, A&E’s Monster In-Laws, and Fox’s Someone’s Gotta Go, before becoming a legal expert for CNN. Her syndicated daytime chat show, The Mel Robbins Show with Sony Pictures Television, debuted on September 16, 2019. Unfortunately, Sony announced its cancellation on January 29, 2020, citing low ratings after its first season. Robbins was honored with the Gracie Award for Outstanding Host–News/Non-fiction in 2014.
