Rahul Dua is a well-known Indian stand-up comedian who is regarded as the brightest comic of his generation. His first big break came when he appeared on ‘Comicstaan,’ a comedy reality show. He is also a YouTuber whose videos go viral. Observational comedy is his comedy genre. Dua used to be an investment banker before becoming a stand-up comedian.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Rahul Dua was born in 1992 in Ludhiana, Punjab, India.
Late Kirti Dua, Rahul Dua’s father, was a professor at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary And Animal Sciences University (GADVASU). Geeta Dua, his mother, is a teacher at Sat Paul Mittal School in Ludhiana. Sidharth Dua is his younger brother’s name.

Rahul Dua will marry Nidhi Tyagi in October 2020.

EDUCATION

Rahul Dua attended Sacred Heart Convent School in Ludhiana and earned his B.Tech in Electronics and Communications at Thapar University in Patiala. Following that, he took the CAT (an MBA entrance exam) and was admitted to the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi, one of India’s top business schools. His MBA concentrations were in finance and marketing.

CAREER

For six months, Rahul Dua worked as a project intern at Nokia in Gurgaon (Jan 2011 – Jun 2011). Following that, he worked as a credit risk officer at Citibank in Mumbai before becoming an investment banker. Dua was employed at Citibank for about 18 months. While experimenting with open mics, he was also working as an Assistant Manager at Star India Private Limited (Star TV), Gurgaon (2015-2017).
Along with his day job at Star TV, he made time for open mic nights in Delhi’s Connaught Place. When Dua was finally paid for his performances, he decided to pursue stand-up full-time. Dua made his debut as a contestant in ‘Comicstaan,’ an Indian stand-up comedy competition television series, in 2018, where he finished first runner-up. Dua rose to prominence as a result of this reality show.
