Ramashish Ray is a technopreneur with a rich professional background encompassing prominent companies such as Meizu, Foxconn, Samsung, Nokia, Akzo Nobel, Standard Chartered, and Philips. Based in Gurgaon, Haryana, India, he is the founder of RMS Singapore Pte Ltd, a business accelerator specializing in bringing products, new technologies, services, and investments to markets, with a focus on APAC, Greater China, and MEA. The company operates through IEPL and NUOS Electronics Pvt Ltd, catering to consumers.

EDUCATION

Educationally, Ray holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, where he was a Dean’s Award winner. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Delhi University, where he graduated with distinction. His high school education at Modern School, Barakhamba Road, included active participation in the school hockey team and teaching underprivileged children at a government school.

CAREER

Ray’s leadership extends to being the CEO of the Center of Excellence at Noida, a MEITY venture of the Government of India, where he oversees mobile enhancements, module development, and a state-of-the-art design lab. Additionally, he is the founder of an astrotourism venture, starscapes.zone.

With a history of contributions to major companies, Ray served as the Chief Executive Officer at MEIZU, where he played a key role in designing and producing smartphones tailored for a simple, intuitive mobile experience. He successfully developed India-specific portfolio designs, managed the supply chain, and created a pan-India distribution structure.

Prior to his role at MEIZU, Ray served as the Global Head of Go-To-Market (GTM) at Foxconn, contributing to the licensing of the Nokia brand in China. He was part of the founding team that led to the formation of HMD Nokia, achieving significant success in the competitive Chinese market.

His tenure at Samsung Electronics as the Vice President of Sales Marketing showcased his prowess in leading offline and online retail businesses. Ray implemented transformative measures, including a new channel program, process improvements, and integrating consumer electronics and mobile business in offline and online retail.

Before Samsung, Ray spent nearly a decade at Nokia, where he held various roles, including Director of Retail – Global Sales Ops, and contributed significantly to the growth and success of the brand. His responsibilities included devising global branded retail forecasting, spearheading an Omni Channel setup, and heading global Nokia multi-country branded spaces.

Ray’s professional journey began at Akzo Nobel Chemicals, where he served as a Product Marketing and Sales Manager, managing world-class paint brands. He initiated strategic transitions in sales and distribution, leaving a lasting impact on the company.
