She attended Convent of Jesus and Mary in New Delhi for her schooling, earned her bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University, and subsequently pursued her master’s degree at the University of Westminster.

CAREER

Ritnika Nayan initiated her musical career in 2001 at Hofstra University in New York. She dedicated four years to the university’s concerts division, where she was involved in organizing shows for artists such as Maroon 5, Nickelback, Counting Crows, and more. During this time, she gained experience in various aspects of the live music sector, including ticketing, advertising, production, and finances. Following the completion of her Bachelor’s degree in TV/Video at Hofstra, she returned to India and explored opportunities in television (MTV NY, ITV London, Star India) and film (Gandhi My Father), working as an Assistant Director.

In 2006, Ritnika relocated to London to pursue her Master’s degree in Music Business Management at Westminster University. During her time in London, she worked as a promoter for a year, overseeing concerts at renowned venues like the Troubadour, 100 Club, Borderline, and Nambucca. After a brief tenure at Sincere Management under Peter Jenner, Ritnika returned to India to establish her music company, which specializes in artist management, live concerts, consultancy, and operates a rehearsal studio in Delhi. Her achievements include being named the runner-up for the ‘Young Music Entrepreneur’ by the British Council in 2008, and in 2018, she was selected as a finalist for the UK Alumni Entrepreneur Award.

Ritnika is a dedicated advocate for promoting local music, firmly believing in elevating the Indian music industry to global standards. She actively participates in music conferences worldwide and has served as a panelist at events such as Music Expo 2008 in Los Angeles, Electron Festival Geneva in 2011, Amsterdam Dance Event in 2016, and EARS in 2018, both in Mumbai. Notably, she authored India’s first and only book on electronic music, titled “hub.

Her contributions have been recognized through features in prominent publications like Femina, Elle, Time Out Delhi, Hindustan Times, Midday, Sunday Guardian, TOI Crest, Statesman, and Indian Express. India Today Aspire Magazine named her one of the ‘Top Guns of India.’ Ritnika also achieved the prestigious Indiafrica Visionary Fellowship, attended a business bootcamp at the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, and delivered a speech at the University of Mauritius.

Furthermore, she recently shared her insights at a TEDx event in India, shedding light on the myriad opportunities within the music industry, and introduced her book “Indie 101: The Ultimate Guide to the Independent Music Industry in India.”

Additionally, she served as the Country Lead for India at Downtown Music Holdings, representing CD Baby, Fuga, Songtrust, Downtown Music Services, Adrev, and found.ee. Her involvement extended to various noteworthy projects, including the Guns & Roses India Tour, Lollapalooza, Manu Chao India Tour, Sula Fest, Tiny Fingers India Tour, Sula Festival, Moto Spotlight Series, The Grub Fest, Ziro Festival of Music, and Nucleya’s “Horn Ok Please” tour, among others.

AWARDS

In 2019, Ritnika received the Contribution to the Creative Industry Award from the University of Westminster, UK. In addition, she established India’s sole certification course in Music Business at the Sri Aurobindo Center of Arts and Communication.
