At a adolescent, Rizwan Sajan started selling books and fireworks to support his family. He went to Kuwait for a piece of work but the Kuwait war changed everything and he had to return to Mumbai in 1991, At the age of 18. After that, he moved to Dubai in 1993 and began working a hardware store. He started his personal business with his wife Sameera Sajan, and she was his first employee. He established Danube as a small trading company in 1993. Now, the company’s turnover exceeds $1.4 billion and has operations in over 50 plus locations globally, 3,300 plus employees beyond the world. In November 2012, Sajan began the Danube Welfare Society as part of its corporate social responsibilty (CSR) plans. The society offers a plethora of free training courses to help unskilled workers develop their language skills and further improve their careers.
