Sean (Hyunil) Sohn

Sean (Hyunil) Sohn, currently serving as the CEO at Krafton India and Head of the India Division at Krafton Inc.. He has been with KRAFTON India since August 2021 and is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

EDUCATION

Sean Sohn’s educational background includes an MBA (lectured in Mandarin Chinese) with a focus on Finance and Accounting Track from Tsinghua University (2006-2008), a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (1996-2000), and participation in the Exchange Student Program in Economics and Accounting at RMIT University in 1998.

CAREER

Before joining KRAFTON India, Sean held the position of Head of Corporate Development at KRAFTON Inc. from May 2020 to August 2021, based in Seoul, South Korea. In this role, he focused on M&A, Investments (Strategic, VC), and New Business ventures.

Prior to his time at KRAFTON, Sean served as the Chief Financial Officer at PUBG Corporation from October 2017 to May 2020, based in Seoul. His responsibilities included overseeing financial matters within the company.

Before his involvement in the gaming industry, Sean gained extensive experience in finance. He worked as a Senior Manager in the Investment Banking Department at Industrial and Commercial Bank of China from September 2014 to October 2017, focusing on Project Finance, Aircraft/Shipping Finance, Acquisition Finance, and other structured financing products.

Sean also held a significant role as Vice President in the Project Financing Department at Shinhan Bank from January 2012 to September 2014, where he managed Overseas Project Finance deals, including infrastructure, plant, and transportation projects.

In his earlier career, Sean worked in various finance-related roles, such as Vice President in the Investment Banking Department at Shinhan Bank, where he specialized in Shipping Finance and International Syndication Loan from August 2008 to December 2009.

Before his venture into banking, Sean served as CFO Assistant at Beijing Oriental Communication, a joint venture of Actoz Soft and Sea Rainbow Holdings, where he managed the operation of an online game company from May 2004 to September 2007.

Sean’s career began as a Research Assistant in the IT Sector at Mirae Asset Securities from July 2003 to May 2004, where he conducted equity research in internet portals, online games, smart cards, and mobile internet sectors.

In his early career, Sean worked as an Assistant Manager at Actoz Soft from 2001 to 2002, where he initiated and successfully launched a joint venture business of online game and animation.
