Born in 1988 , Shivya Nath hails from Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
EDUCATION
Shivya Nath completed her schooling at St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School in Dehradun and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Economics and Marketing from the Singapore Management University.
CAREER
Following her graduation, Shivya Nath began working as a social media strategist at the Singapore Tourism Board. It was during this time that she discovered the world of travel blogging through social networking and started following prominent travel bloggers worldwide. She participated in a Facebook contest sponsored by AirAsia and emerged as the winner, receiving two return tickets to Paris. Taking a two-month sabbatical, Shivya Nath spent the first month traveling across Europe. For the remaining period, she volunteered to promote responsible tourism in the cold mountain desert of Spiti, located in the northern Himalayas of India.
After her sabbatical came to an end, Shivya Nath made the life-changing decision to quit her job in 2011. She believed that those two months of adventure had allowed her to live life to the fullest. Following her departure, she revitalized her blog, “The Shooting Star,” and began sharing her travel stories through it. Initially relying on her savings, she transitioned into freelance writing after six months. Her talent as a writer led her to collaborate with esteemed publications such as BBC Travel, Lonely Planet India, National Geographic Traveller India, Conde Nast Traveller India, The Huffington Post, The Times of India, The Hindu, Hindustan Times, and CNNGo. Additionally, Shivya Nath works as a social media consultant.
In 2012, she established her own tourism and travel company called “India Untravelled.” Reflecting on her personal journey and global travels, Shivya Nath published her book titled “The Shooting Star” in 2018. Furthermore, in 2019, she ventured into the world of fashion and launched her travel clothing line called “The Shooting Star Collection.”
