CAREER

Throughout his extensive career as an IAS Officer, he has held a wide range of administrative roles, encompassing Finance, Social Security, Investment, Infrastructure, Mines, Steel, Energy, Transport, and more, both at the central and state government levels. He also contributed his expertise at the Competition Commission of India and served on the boards of SAIL, NMDC, MECON, MSTC, and NIIF. Notably, he assumed the role of CEO at the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, India’s largest social security organization, where he played a pivotal role in implementing numerous reforms that enhanced its efficiency, transparency, and service delivery.
Furthermore, he is an accomplished author with publications in various journals and publications, and he has represented India in numerous international forums.

Before his current position, he held the role of Secretary in the Ministry of Labour & Employment. Shri Barthwal is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer from the Bihar Cadre.
