Her father, Parakala Prabhakar, is a versatile personality known for his roles as a politician, political economist, social worker, and television presenter. He served as a communications advisor in the Government of Andhra Pradesh between 2014 and 2018. Vangmayi’s mother, Nirmala Sitaraman, holds the esteemed position of the Finance Minister of India. She is an only child and holds Indian nationality.

On June 7, 2023, Vangmayi tied the knot with Pratik Doshi in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Pratik Doshi, who serves as an Officer-on-Special Duty (OSD) in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), is considered a close confidante of Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India.

Upon completing her formal education, Vangmayi embarked on her professional journey as a journalist, initially joining the esteemed national newspaper, The Hindu. With dedication and talent, she made valuable contributions during her tenure there. Subsequently, she transitioned to Mint, where she currently serves as a senior correspondent. Within this role, she focuses on publishing insightful articles encompassing lifestyle, arts, and technology.

Vangmayi’s expertise and passion for journalism have garnered recognition beyond her primary positions. Her articles have been prominently featured in reputable publications such as The New Indian Express, The Voice Of Fashion, Literary Hub, Hindustan Times, and Pacific Standard.
