Vasanth Selvam, a Tamil actor, honed his theatrical skills through practical experience under the guidance of his mentor Koumarane Valavane. Together, they established Indianostrum Theatre, a Pondicherry-based theatre company. Under Koumarane Valavane’s direction, Vasanth has showcased his talent in renowned productions such as “Land of Ashes,” “Kunti-Karna,” “Karuppu,” “Chandala,” and “Impure.” These performances have graced prominent Indian theatre festivals, as well as international stages like Theatre du Soleil in Paris, France, and The Festival of Francophonie in Limoges, France.

In 2015, Vasanth Selvam marked his cinematic debut with a role in Jacques Audiard’s Palme d’Or-winning film “Dheepan.” Alongside his acting career, he is a dedicated practitioner of Kalaripayattu, a martial art originating from Kerala. Additionally, he has received training in Theru Koothu, a traditional theatre form of Tamil Nadu, and Kathakali, a classical dance-drama from Kerala. His collaboration with renowned theatre director Peter Brook on the production of “The Prisoner” further exemplifies his versatility. Notably, Vasanth Selvam gained recognition for his role in “Kadaseela Biriyani” (2021).

His forthcoming bilingual film “Dange,” in Hindi and Tamil languages, is scheduled for release on March 1, 2024
