Yashwant Mahadik is a distinguished professional with a remarkable career in human resources and business transformation. He currently serves as the President – Global Human Resources & Co-Lead Business Transformation Office at Lupin Global, a multinational pharmaceutical company based in India. In this role, Mahadik plays a pivotal role in shaping Lupin’s global human resources function and leading the organization’s strategic business transformation initiatives. His primary focus is to elevate various aspects of the company from “good to great” and ensure it remains agile and prepared for the future. This includes overseeing Lupin’s evolution into a transnational company within the global healthcare industry.

EDUCATION

In terms of education, Yashwant Mahadik holds an MBA with a specialization in Business Administration and International Human Resources Management from the University of Sheffield, where he graduated with distinction as the top-ranked student in his class. Additionally, he earned an ICF-ACTP Certified Coach credential in Behavioral Sciences after completing the International Coaching Federation’s Accredited Coach Training Program.

His undergraduate education includes a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree, where he studied Commerce, Economics, and Accounting at R. A. Podar College of Commerce & Economics. Earlier, he pursued high school education with a focus on Commerce and Accounting at The Scindia School.

CAREER

In addition to his CHRO responsibilities at Lupin, Yashwant Mahadik assumed an extra role in March 2019 as the Co-Lead of the Business Transformation Office. Under this capacity, he spearheads a global transformation program aimed at making Lupin a distinct player in the global healthcare sector. This signifies his dedication to driving significant organizational changes, setting Lupin on the path to differentiation in the pharmaceutical industry.

Before his tenure at Lupin, Mahadik held a crucial position at Sun Pharma, where he served as the Executive Vice President & Global Chief Human Resources Officer. During his time at Sun Pharma, he led a transformation in the HR function to enhance value creation for customers and society. An especially notable accomplishment was his leadership during the integration of Ranbaxy with Sun Pharma, the largest M&A deal in Indian pharmaceutical history.

In a previous role at Philips, Yashwant Mahadik assumed various responsibilities, including Senior Vice President – Global Head of HR Business Transformation, IT & Operations. In this position, he focused on re-engineering world-class processes, particularly in areas such as manufacturing, supply chain, quality and regulatory, customer service, and procurement. His commitment to serving employees worldwide, combined with his influence on Philips University, marked his role as a significant change driver within the company.

Mahadik’s journey at Philips began with a multifaceted role that involved being a Global Head of HR Business Transformation, IT, and Global Chief Learning Officer. He was responsible for establishing a permanent Business Transformation function at Philips and driving the company’s global transformation agenda. This was closely followed by a role expansion as Global HR Head for Quality & Regulatory and Customer Service functions. His endeavors contributed to enhancing Philips’ global presence and performance.

Before his tenure at Philips, Yashwant Mahadik was associated with companies like Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, Colgate-Palmolive, and Crompton Greaves. These roles encompassed a wide array of HR leadership responsibilities, each contributing to his wealth of experience in shaping human resources functions and steering organizational transformations.
