Garima Lohia, a remarkable Indian woman, achieved the remarkable feat of securing the second All India Rank (AIR 2) in the prestigious 2022 UPSC CSE examination.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Garima Lohia hails from Buxar, Bihar, where she was born. Her late father, Narayan Prasad Lohia, was a wholesale dealer of garments in the Buxar district, while her mother’s name is Sunita Lohia. She has two sisters and a brother. Her elder sister is happily married in Jabalpur, while her younger brother, Varun Lohia, is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
As of now, Garima Lohia remains unmarried. She proudly identifies herself as an Indian national, while her specific Zodiac sign is not known. Similarly, her hobbies have not been disclosed at this time.

EDUCATION

Garima Lohia received her primary education at Woodstock School in Buxar, Bihar, where she studied until Class 10. Subsequently, she pursued her higher secondary education (Classes 11 and 12) at Sunbeam School, Bhagwanpur in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Her thirst for knowledge led her to complete her Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Kirori Mal College in Delhi.

CAREER

Following the unfortunate demise of her father in 2015, Garima and her siblings were solely raised by her mother. In different nterviews, Garima acknowledges her mother as her greatest inspiration, who stood firmly by her side throughout her preparation for the UPSC CSE examination.

Amidst the challenges posed by the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, Garima embarked on her journey of preparing for the civil services examination. Unlike many UPSC aspirants who opt for coaching classes, she made the decision to study from the comfort of her home, utilizing resources such as books and the internet. However, she did avail herself of a test series to aid her preparations for the mains. Although she did not pass her prelims on her initial attempt, she displayed unwavering determination and successfully cleared the examination on her second try.

Garima Lohia made headlines in May 2023 when the UPSC CSE results were announced. Securing the second All India Rank (AIR 2), she joined the distinguished ranks of Ishita Kishore (AIR 1), Uma Harathi N (AIR 3), and Smriti Mishra (AIR 4) in the top four positions.
