CAREER
Maheep had an appearance in the 1994 music video for the Indian folk-pop artist Ila Arun’s song Nigori Kaisi Jawani Hai.
After that, she was set to star in a movie called Shivam opposite Raaj Kumar’s son Panini Raajkumar, but the project was eventually shelved. Later, she made a design debut in the jewellery industry. “I have always been passionate about jewelry…It all started with designing a few pieces for myself that were immensely loved by my friends and family”, she stated in an interview when discussing how she got started in the jewellery industry. Later, it began to turn into requests for designs, and before long, without the creator’s knowledge, it had developed into a full-fledged career.
She then began working as a jewellery designer for the prestigious Mumbai jeweller Satyani Fine Jewels. One of Satyani Fine Jewels’ best-selling jewellery lines is from her unique collection, “Chandbalis for Satyani Fine Jewels.” Numerous Bollywood stars, including Malaika Arora, Neha Dhupia, Dia Mirza, etc., wore the gorgeous pair of chandelier earrings. She stated in an interview that she was inspired by Mughal jewellery when creating her “Chandbalis” collection, employing various gold embossing techniques, textured gold, enamelling, etc. They are handcrafted, and every chandbali is a singular work of art.
She created jewellery in 2006 for the Bollywood movie “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.” She received much awards for creating the jewellery for the popular Indian movie “Om Shaanti Om” in 2007. She was appointed director of Maheep Kapoor and her husband Sanjay Kapoor’s production company, Sanjay Kapoor Entertainment Private Limited, which was founded in the same year. Together with Sussanne Khan and Seema Khan, she created the upscale shopping store Bandra 190 in 2013.
She started a business in 2014 with VIVA-LUXE, an upscale online shop for Asian designer clothing, where she served as the company’s fashion director. With the Netflix reality series “Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives,” which stars her real-life friends Neelam Kothari Soni, Seema Khan, and Bhavna Pandey, Maheep Kapoor made her digital debut in 2020.
