Mr. Ramesh Dungarmal Tainwala has held several key roles within Samsonite International S.A., making significant contributions to the company’s growth and success. He assumed the position of Executive Director in May 2011 and has served as an executive director of the consolidated group since February 2011.

EDUCATION

Mr. Tainwala’s educational background includes a Master’s degree in Management Studies, which he earned from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India, in 1982.

CAREER

Notably, Mr. Tainwala took on the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on October 1, 2014. As CEO, he bears the responsibility for the company’s overall strategic planning and the management of the Group’s operations, reflecting his strong leadership and vision.

Before stepping into the CEO role, Mr. Tainwala served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) from March 2014 to September 2014. His tenure as COO was marked by his commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness within the organization.

Prior to his COO appointment, he held the position of President, Asia-Pacific and Middle East, where he played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s presence in these critical regions.

Mr. Tainwala’s association with Samsonite dates back to January 2007 when he assumed the role of General Manager of the Group’s Middle Eastern operation. His exceptional performance led to his appointment as the Chief Operating Officer of the Group’s Indian operation in June 2000.

Before joining Samsonite in November 1995, Mr. Tainwala was an entrepreneur with a strong background in the plastic processing and consumer goods industries. He was notably associated with Tainwala Chemicals & Plastics (India) Limited from 1985 to 2008.

Additionally, Mr. Tainwala has contributed to the corporate governance of other organizations. He served as an independent non-executive director of Donear Industries Limited from 1990 to 2013 and Basant Agro Tech (India) Limited from 2005 to 2013. Both of these companies were listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited.
