Shashwat Sharma is currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer at Bharti Airtel, based in Gurugram, Haryana, India. In this role, he leads the company’s customer-led growth strategy, marketing, brand, and corporate communications. Shashwat has been with Bharti Airtel for over five years, demonstrating his commitment and dedication to the company.

EDUCATION

Shashwat Sharma’s educational background is equally impressive. He holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, where he was a Student Council Member in charge of Media Relations and excelled as a badminton champion. Prior to his MBA, he earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering, where he served as Chairman of the IEEE Student Chapter and represented India at a global IEEE conference in Singapore.

Shashwat Sharma’s educational journey began with a CBSE education in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from Delhi Public School – R. K. Puram. He then continued to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering in Computers at Delhi College of Engineering. Subsequently, he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management.

CAREER

Before joining Bharti Airtel, Shashwat Sharma gained extensive experience at Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), where he held various leadership positions over a period of 13 years and 6 months. He notably served as the Head of Oral Care & Ayush, leading Closeup, Pepsodent, and Toothbrushes teams. During his tenure, he successfully launched the ayurvedic brand, Lever Ayush, within a year from its conception. Shashwat’s contributions extended across all Personal Care categories, showcasing his expertise and leadership.

Prior to HUL, Shashwat Sharma held roles at Unilever, including Head of Brand and Marketing for Airtel. His responsibilities encompassed media planning, campaign development, and managing the P&L for brands such as Dove and Pears, Bodywash, and Liril. He demonstrated an exceptional ability to build brand salience and drive business growth.

Furthermore, Shashwat’s professional journey includes a stint as the Regional Brand Manager for Domestos in Asia, where he played a pivotal role in launching the brand in the Philippines within six months. He also spearheaded the expansion of Domestos in Asian markets and played a key role in consumer understanding across 12 countries.

In his early career, Shashwat Sharma gained experience as an Area Sales & Customer Manager for HUL, pioneering the “Go-to-market” distribution strategy in Chennai and achieving consistent sales growth. He led a team of sales officers, executives, and assistant managers, contributing to the company’s financial success.
