Thomas Saueressig serves on the Executive Board of SAP SE, leading the SAP Product Engineering division with global oversight of all business software applications.

EDUCATION

He obtained his diploma degree from Baden Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University, followed by a bachelor’s from Open University London. Subsequently, he pursued an MBA at Mannheim Business School.

CAREER

Saueressig initiated his professional journey at SAP, specializing in consulting for CRM implementations. He spent several months at SAP Labs Silicon Valley in Palo Alto, California, and served as a Board assistant for several years.

In 2016, he earned a spot on Fortune’s 40 Under 40 list. As the global sponsor for both the SAP Business Women’s Network and the Women in Technology initiative at SAP, Saueressig actively advocates for gender equality. He holds a degree in Business Information Technology from the University of Cooperative Education in Mannheim (Germany) and a joint executive MBA from ESSEC Business School (France) and Mannheim Business School (Germany). Since April 2022, Saueressig has served on the Board of Directors at Nokia.

Prior to assuming the role as the head of SAP Product Engineering, Saueressig served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Global Head of IT Services at SAP. As CIO, he oversaw SAP’s IT strategy with a focus on cloud-first approaches, pioneering new business models. Earlier in his career, he led enterprise mobility efforts and subsequently took on global responsibilities for IT project delivery and client IT organizations.

This encompasses all aspects from product strategy and management to product development, innovation, and cloud operations support. Saueressig oversees a portfolio comprising solutions for enterprise resource planning, supply chain management, spend management, business network, human capital management, industries, customer experience, and solutions tailored for small and midsize enterprises. Additionally, he manages offerings for operations in both public and private clouds, the global SAP Labs Network, and the SAP Enterprise Adoption organization. Saueressig is also responsible for engineering priorities, covering innovation, embedded artificial intelligence, integration, design, user experience, cloud operational excellence, and the overall quality and security of SAP software products.
