Nancy’s family consists of her mother, Maya Tyagi, who worked as a teacher and factory worker, and her younger brother, Manu Tyagi. Her mother lost her job in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Nancy decided to support her family financially. She started a YouTube channel in 2021, where she uploaded videos of her making outfits. By 2024, her channel had amassed over one million subscribers.
In 2022, Nancy expanded her social media presence by uploading dance and transition videos on Instagram, although initially, they did not gain significant traction. Persistence paid off as she began gaining thousands of views on her reels by showcasing her talent in replicating celebrity looks. Despite not receiving formal training in stitching, Nancy learned through YouTube tutorials and resourcefully reused her mother’s old clothes to create new outfits. She frequently sourced fabrics from Shanti Mohalla in Seelampur, Shahdara, Delhi.

One of Nancy’s significant achievements came in 2024 when she walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, wearing self-stitched gowns that garnered appreciation from numerous celebrities. Her favorite foods include Kadi Chawal, and she prefers the colors black and brown. Nancy’s story is one of resilience and creativity, inspiring many with her journey from a small village to an international fashion platform.

This remarkable gown, which took a month to create, has captured widespread attention and praise online, including accolades from actor Sonam Kapoor and fashion critic Sufi Motiwala.
In an Instagram post, Tyagi revealed that the gown was stitched using 1,000 meters of fabric and weighed over 20 kg. She expressed her emotions and gratitude: “Stepping onto the red carpet at the 77th Cannes Film Festival as a debutant feels surreal. I poured my heart and soul into creating this pink gown, which took 30 days, 1000 meters of fabric, and weighs over 20kg. The journey has been intense, but every moment was worth it. I’m overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for the love and support from all of you. This is a dream come true, and I hope my creation dazzles you as much as your support has inspired me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
