There is no available information about his birthplace, birthdate. Dean was the sixth offspring of Winston and Valda Ellington. Winston, his father, immigrated to the United States in 1988 after residing in Jamaica for 41 years. CAREER

Dean began his career as a remote supervisor for WTIC/WTXX TV while still attending university. After five years in that role, he transitioned to Fox 61 WTIC in 1999 as a production supervisor, where he led the technical crew for the local news station. Dean’s career reached a milestone in 2008 when he became ESPN’s remote studio technical director for the Super Bowl.

Before his passing, he held the position of technical director for ESPN during events like the NFL Drafts, the FIFA World Cup 2014, the Ryder Cup, and The Masters. Ellington’s accomplishments included winning five Emmys. Baron Miller, the SEC Network’s coordinating producer, reflected on Dean’s legacy, highlighting his genuine leadership and describing him as “kind” above all else.

In that year, he fulfilled the same role for various athletic events, such as the Masters and Ryder Cup. Dean advanced to the position of senior technical director in 2017, a role he held until 2022. Additionally, he served as the technical director for the NFL Draft from 2008 to 2016. Dean transitioned to ESPN as a remote operations producer in 2022, having previously contributed to the morning program Get Up.

The technical director at ESPN passed away on Tuesday night at his residence, leaving many, including his colleagues, in disbelief. Mike Greenberg, one of Dean’s many coworkers, announced his passing during ESPN’s morning program, Get Up. Greenberg emphasized Dean’s significance to their team and recounted their collective efforts to enhance the program.
