Mr. N Kumar is the Chairman and Independent Director, playing a key role in the Board’s leadership. He holds positions in various committees, including the Audit & Risk Management Committee, HR, Nomination and Remuneration Committee, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee.
EDUCATION
An Electronics Engineering Graduate from Anna University, Chennai, and a fellow member of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, N Kumar has a strong academic background. Additionally, he is a fellow life member of The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers and The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., New York (IEEE).
CAREER
Currently serving as the Vice Chairman of The Sanmar Group in Chennai, N Kumar also holds the prestigious position of Honorary Consul General of Greece in Chennai. With over four decades of diverse experience in Electronics, Telecommunications, Chemicals, Engineering, Technology, Education, Management, and Finance, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the Board.
N Kumar has a history of leadership roles, having served as the President of the Confederation of Indian Industry. He also holds the Chairman position at the Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Beyond business, he actively contributes to social causes as the President of Bala Mandir Kamaraj Trust and Managing Trustee of The Indian Education Trust, overseeing two schools.
Having been appointed as an Independent Director of the company since April 29, 2008, N Kumar’s contributions extend beyond corporate boardrooms. He is associated with various organizations, holding leadership positions such as Chairman at Confederation of Indian Industry Institute of Quality, Chairman at Indus Towers Ltd., and Non-Executive Chairman of TAKE Solutions Ltd.
In addition to his corporate responsibilities, N Kumar is engaged in philanthropy, serving as Chairman of Madhuram Narayanan Centre For Exceptional Children and President of Bala Mandir Kamaraj Trust. His association with esteemed organizations, such as The Indian National Academy of Engineering, The Institute of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers, and The Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, Inc., reflects his commitment to professional development and excellence.
Narayanan Kumar’s past roles include Chairmanship at The National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies and the Presidency of the Confederation of Indian Industry. His significant contributions have earned him recognition, and he received an undergraduate degree from Anna University.
