CAREER

In 2016, Rakhi co-founded Manchester Collective, which, under her leadership, successfully performed its second Proms within just two years this summer. Through her programming, she remains dedicated to spotlighting significant music, from last year’s Julius Eastman Proms performance to this year’s focus on emerging British composers like Ben Nobuto and Oliver Leith, while also including favorites from Lang and Reich.

In addition to her role as a leader in the Collective, Singh has earned a strong reputation as a prominent violinist. She has toured with acclaimed artists such as Philip Glass, Abel Selaocoe, and Hiromi. Rakhi has also guest-led ensembles, including the London Contemporary Orchestra, RLPO, CBSO, Hebrides Ensemble, and Sinfonia Cymru. Starting in 2021, she embarked on a solo artist tour, headlining performances at prestigious venues like Het Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), the National Concert Hall (Dublin), Funkhaus (Berlin), and Kings Place (London).

In addition to her forthcoming debut solo album, ‘Purnima,’ set to be released on Bang on a Can’s Cantaloupe Music label, Rakhi has a catalog of records, including releases on Bedroom Community. She has also contributed two albums as the curator and director of Manchester Collective, and her first composition EP, ‘Quarry.

As a collaborator, Rakhi has created and performed collaborative pieces for renowned venues such as the London Southbank Centre, where she worked alongside Vessel and NYX Electronic Drone Choir for NMB 2022, and at the Royal Opera House with Blackhaine. She has also contributed to a collaborative record alongside acclaimed violinist and recorder player Laura Cannell, featuring artists like Gazelle Twin, Nik Colk Void, and Lori Goldston. In 2023, she lent her talents as a recording artist to albums by Fever Ray, Clark, Vessel, and others.
